OK, so let’s talk about targeting. Can you guess who this video is for? It’s not for your grandma..unless she is particularly social media savvy (in which case, go grandma)! This video is for viewers who are already in that online tech savvy world, which is why we don’t break down basic concepts. We talk freely about social media and content strategies (concepts that the viewer already understands).
The target market should already understand all of those symbols!
Now, who is going to use this product? Who is going to maybe tell their older boss about it? Probably a younger person, right? Maybe someone like this guy?
He is young, not too corporate, perhaps an entrepreneur. He is relatable to the target audience, as he looks exactly like the target audience.
We dressed him in a T-shirt and pants so he comes across as a laid back professional. If we dressed him in a three-piece suit, we might lose some of the connect-ability to the viewer, as that is too corporate for the product. But he’s techy — and that is important.
Although targeting like this may seem unnecessary for your video, it is an essential feature in your company. Without first figuring out your target market, it is almost impossible to make a really strong explainer video. If you need help figuring that out, you can always talk more with us!
