How Video Stories Impact Viewers’ Perceptions

When we create an online video, we typically use the storytelling method. This is when we, instead of just pushing information at you, use a story to tell consumers about the product or service. This makes the information more digestible and engaging. So why video stories work so well when it comes to web video marketing?

First, video stories make you standout. There are billions of videos out there. From cute puppies to funny babies, the Internet is cluttered with things to watch. Storytelling makes an explainer video stand out against the amateur and nonsense videos that are all over the web. Having a clear cut start and end makes the video look clean and professional.

Second, storytelling leads to shareability. Think about how fast verbal stories spread. Now put that online with all of the social technology. Stories, rather than simple video promos, are more likely to be shared. When it comes to video promotion, users prefer to send their friends a funny, sad, inspiring, etc story than a video with no plot. The shareability factor makes the storytelling method very unique.

And third, it’s interesting! We all love listening to a story, especially when the story is short and told in a great way.

Storytelling in Video

We start hearing stories from when we’re children, and that concept does not get old (though we do). Storytelling is simply applied to online videos so that companies and businesses have a way to get their message out. Storytelling in explainer videos is a very successful way to show your company to potential customers while engaging them at the same time.
