Are you Over the Viral Video Buzz yet?

Alright, so you are a business and you aren’t getting enough buzz surrounding your product. So you think, in addition to pushing social media, let’s make a video. But not just any video. You want a viral video. And why shouldn’t you? You want your video to have millions of hits, so your product is featured on Oprah’s favorite things.

viral video buzz

So you want to test out your video making skills and think, I’ll make a video that is hilarious, and then that will spread like wildfire. Great, and off you go. So then you make your video, but then you realize…my product isn’t funny. My product is a cloud-based computer software…and no one has watched this funny video that I made with cats.

You have fallen into the I MUST HAVE A VIRAL VIDEO trap. What you forgot is that you are making this video to promote your product, not simply to entertain the masses. So it’s back to the drawing board, after spending thousands on website video production.

It’s ok. We understand. But what you have to understand is not everyone is going to care about your cloud-based computer software…but some people will. So first you need to find those techies and figure out how to appeal to them.

And now you may have already started a video series already. But it’s time to get rid of the cat bloopers and actually explain your product – promote yourself! This is the time to explain why your product is awesome! You don’t need to be funny, just informative…explanatory…which is why we call them…explainer videos. So don’t try to be the next YouTube sensation, but rather try to find your target audience and get them to watch your video — because that is who will buy your product.
